Twelve daredevil students put their kayaking skills to the test during an action-packed trip to Cardiff International White Water.
The canoe club members from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools enjoyed the challenging level of rapid water at the Olympic standard white water rafting centre.
Older boys Sam (Year 12) and Ed (Year 10) took the Year 7 beginners down the course in a double kayak.
An intermediate group of Year 8 and 9 students tackled the course themselves.
Each student acquitted themselves well and demonstrated their ability to roll in whitewater, to navigate from eddy to eddy through large pour-overs and stoppers, and, most crucially, to avoid the rafts.
The students’ confidence levels increased noticeably throughout the very successful and enjoyable trip the Cardiff International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay.
