‘The Language of music is much richer and more eloquent than that of words. In its sublime manifestations, music touches upon spiritual spheres that words cannot penetrate. Music is a spiritual art. It shall bring light and good to people.’ – Edison Denisov
In recognition of its significant role in personal development, music is at the heart of our schools’ communities. In every school and at every stage, Monmouth pupils engage in creative music. Whether as a member of a choir, orchestra, band, ensemble, or as an instrumental soloist, opportunities are available to learn and perform at the highest level. As well as timetabled music classes, a high proportion of our students take individual instrument and singing lessons and many enjoy the study of composition and music technology. It is a testament to the outstanding musical foundation offered by the Monmouth schools that some of this country’s most distinguished musicians are among our alumni.
