Christmas cookery masterclass for Year 9…

December 10, 2018

Mince pies, yule logs and rosemary pigs-in-blankets were among the delicious festive treats whipped up by keen Year 9 cookery enthusiasts last weekend.

Hosted by Head of Home Economics, Mrs Lewis, the special Christmas Cookery Day saw 20 pupils turning their hands to mouth-watering delicacies, which also included goats cheese and caramelised onion filo tartlets and Christmas Rocky Road.

Zara, who was among the pupils learning brand new cookery skills, commented: “we made five items each, all of which were festive and delicious. My personal favourite was the yule log. After we had made all of our noel treats, we gift wrapped them and were given a recipe booklet showing the wonderful things we had produced.”

She added: “Not only was this co-curricular cooking session educational, it allowed us to enjoy a fun day with Christmas music too. All thanks to Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Hawke, we left with a hamper of Christmas goodies!”
