Children celebrate Black History Month

October 14, 2022

Students have been learning about and participating in Black History Month as part of the latest display in the library.

Pupils have been busy browsing and borrowing a range of fiction and non-fiction resources which aim to highlight, celebrate and commemorate experiences, contributions and achievements in black history to the present day.

Black History Month is held annually in the UK, to celebrate history, heritage and culture, as well as helping to encourage racial equality and fight discrimination.

A section in the display explaining terms such as ‘unconscious bias’ and how to avoid it, as well as a celebration of prominent humanitarians by the Red Cross, and a call to action “to achieve a better world for everyone” from Black History Month Magazine, detailing the steps everyone can take to tackle discrimination also feature alongside the fiction and non-fiction resources.
