Caring Sixth Form students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools are providing hospital patients each week with companionship and conversation.
Seven students, including Seren and Lauren (pictured outside Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny), have been donning full personal protective equipment (PPE) and befriending patients, who would otherwise have been unable to receive visitors due to the Covid-19 measures.
Having started the module, as part of their Enrichment Programme in September, the girls were delighted to receive their lime-green polo shirts and graduate into a clinical setting.
The girls, from Year 12, underwent a rigorous vetting and application process before being admitted on to the hospital wards for the first time in February.
Mr James Boiling, who oversees this module, has developed links with the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Person Centred Care and Partnerships programme.
