Schools celebrate Harvest together with St Mary’s Church service

October 20, 2017

St Mary’s Church was packed as pupils from Monmouth School Boys’ Prep and Monmouth School Girls’ Prep celebrated Harvest together for the first time.

Chaplain of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, Reverend Clifford Swartz, spoke about the importance of being thankful for the food grown on the land.

“Rain came into the chapel through the top of the vestry during the bad weather yesterday and damaged a pile of books,” he said.

“But the rain is very important to the farming community because they need it to grow their crops.”

The choirs from each school entertained parents and relatives with their beautiful singing.

The boys’ choir performed a rendition of Lord of Wisdom, Lord of Truth, while the girls from Year 4 sang Orange and Yellow and Brown.

The children also delivered confident readings during the service.
