Children are rock stars for a day!

The iconic Rockfield Studios proved a fabulous venue for the Year 4 pupils at Monmouth School Boys’ Prep.

The boys recorded their own version of Go Tell it on the Mountain and learnt about the science of sound on Friday 24th January.

The pupils followed in the footsteps of rock giants, including Queen and Oasis, who have recorded albums at the famous studios on the outskirts of Monmouth.

Professional sound engineer Joe Jones, Dr Sion Wall and Mr Joe Walton explained the relationship of science to music in a very hands on manner.

The boys were able to see how surfaces affect sound, visualise sound recordings as a wave and look inside different types of keyboard to see the different technologies which allow them to produce sound.

After recording Go Tell it on the Mountain, the boys took part in the mixing process which resulted in a professionally-finished version of the song.
