PIII Visit the Matisse Exhibition at Tate Modern

September 29, 2014

On Thursday 4th September the boys in Prep III went to London to visit the Henri Matisse Cut-Outs exhibition at Tate Modern.

On arrival in London we were dropped at the Tower of London to see the installation of ceramic poppies, Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, which commemorates the British soldiers who died in World War 1; it was very impressive and powerful.

From there we walked over to Tate Modern taking in the sights and sounds of the city.  We had lunch on the grass outside, before exploring the galleries. The Matisse exhibition was amazing, and covered the whole development of his later style, and the boys really enjoyed getting up close to the work, asking questions and making drawings.
