PII Insect Safari

October 3rd, 2015

Insect safariContinuing their ‘Habitat’ topic and following on from their pond survey, Prep II carried out a
scientific wildlife study which they planned and then conducted on their chosen area of the
school fields. They found a wide variety of wildlife which they might have normally just passed by
without noticing and described the habitats in which they found them. They discovered woodlice,
craneflies and snails to be the most abundant animals overall in their study areas. They then
followed this survey up by creating their own ecological identification keys for the wildlife they
found.
