Summer 2020 Week 3: 7/5/2020

A Note from the Head of Monmouth School Boys’ Prep

Well, this makes a change; I do not recall ever sending a newsletter home on a Thursday before. Of course, tomorrow is a Bank Holiday to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day although, yet again, it will not be a normal Bank Holiday weekend by any stretch of the imagination. Thank you for your creative efforts with your wonderful VE Day bunting. They really brightened up my week and I know that they will brighten up your homes, streets and villages over the coming weekend. We know that remote-learning is “intense” to say the least. You – by which I mean boys and their parents – have made a terrific effort over the past few weeks with all of your home schooling and we are grateful for everything you have managed to achieve. I urge you, for the next three days, to put Seesaw tasks out of your mind, to stop checking emails and messages and give yourselves as much technology free time as you are able. Make the most of the Bank Holiday weekend, celebrate VE Day in any way that you are able to and remember, in an homage to Dame Vera Lynn, referenced by the Queen in her latest broadcast to the nation and recreated beautifully by Freddie Morland in his bunting “We’ll Meet Again” soon, I hope.
