A note from the Head of Monmouth School Boys’ Prep

It is safe to say that this has been the best week so far in the two years that I have been Head of the boys’ prep. On Wednesday evening the amazingly talented boys all performed in a stunning performance of Oliver! which was only topped by their energetic and dazzling display on the closing night on Thursday. The eagle-eyed among you may have spotted that instead of 142 boys on stage on Wednesday (137 boys of the school plus our five lovely French exchange boys) we actually only had 138. That is because four boys were excused from the performance in order to take part in the UK Final of the Schools’ General Knowledge Quiz at the Tower of London. On Wednesday, during the dress rehearsal of Oliver! we received the news that the team had just won the entire UK competition! Quizzing is a particular favourite of mine and after three years qualifying for the UK final, we have finally brought home the champions trophy! Thank you and very well done to all the boys in the school for putting a huge smile on my face this week.
