Lent 2020

Lent 2020 Week 11: 20/3/20

A Note from the Head of Monmouth School Boys’ Prep

We have lived, and are living through extremely challenging times, arguably the most momentous social changes since the end of the second World War. Along with our counterparts in the health service and the emergency services, we have been at the ‘front line’ of the nation’s defences by keeping schools open in order to allow society and the economy to function. I am proud of our profession which has done its utmost to keep things running as normally as possible for as long as possible. I am also extremely grateful to those parents who have taken sensible decisions to self-isolate, in the knowledge that, through this means alone, we are able to battle the invisible enemy and protect the most vulnerable. We have, finally, found it necessary to close our doors early for the Easter holidays, although we remain open for the care of the children of key workers in this crisis. As a school, we bow out from this term, certain in the knowledge that as a family, as a community and as a global society we will face up to the challenges and come through this in the end. I wish you all well for the difficult road ahead.
