A Note from the Head of Monmouth School Boys’ Prep
This has been a week to reflect on transition and change and what it is like to revisit places that were once so comfortable and familiar. On Tuesday, I returned to my previous school, Westonbirt, which were hosting this term’s IAPS (Independent Association of Prep School Heads) district meeting. Whilst enjoying a decent lunch and some interesting training workshops, I also got the opportunity to say hello to my old friends, colleagues and pupils and noted the changes that had been introduced as well as the things which remained so familiar. Completely coincidently, Elaine Thomas, my predecessor at The Grange, also had the opportunity to return to her old place of work. She visited the boys’ prep on Wednesday morning alongside her husband, the High Sheriff of Gwent and enjoyed a fascinating assembly. I hope that Elaine felt as I did that, although tinged with some nostalgia, it is nice to return and see the positive steps and progress in a school that was an integral part of one’s life for so long.
