Monmouth School in Tatler Schools Guide 2016

September 2, 2015

Highly-regarded society magazine Tatler has praised the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools’ outstanding sports teams, musicians and top-notch facilities.

Hot off the press, Tatler Schools Guide 2016, highlights Monmouth School as a “Welsh dragon”, who “knows what makes boys tick”, with HMSG close enough for drama and debating, but far enough to allow girls and boys to thrive in their own environments.

Tatler Schools Guide 2016The article reads: “Monmouth (School) has one of the best rugby teams in the country and reached the last four of the Daily Mail Schools Trophy.

“The rowing is just as robust: the coxed four are national schools champions.

“Music is another great strength, and a boy won an organ scholarship to Cambridge, one of 10 pupils who scored Oxbridge offers.

“About 30 per cent board but the number is rising.

“We like the fact that the new sixth-form house gives boys more independence as a stepping stone to university.

“Meanwhile, the little ‘uns (including boys from the age of nine, who are at Monmouth’s prep, The Grange) hunker down in Chapel House.

“The big news is that stage one of the Heart Project, a major expansion of the school’s facilities, is complete, so they now have a space-age teaching block with one of the most sophisticated air-conditioning systems we’ve ever heard of – oxygen for the brain, you see.”
