Monmouth Prep School launches in September 2021

January 28, 2021

From September 2021, we are refining our innovative system of education, known as the Monmouth Model, by introducing a fully co-educational Prep School for boys and girls aged three to 11 (combining our current Pre-Prep, girls’ and boys’ Prep Schools).

Your child’s educational journey will begin at Monmouth Prep School, where day and boarding girls and boys will thrive and flourish with inspired and engaging subject-specialist teaching delivered across two sites.

Based at Agincourt, a delightful old rectory set in picturesque grounds, children in Nursery to Year 2 can enjoy the beautiful, open spaces for learning and enrichment activities.

The Grange is modern and home to pupils from Years 3 to 6 where enhanced outside areas will combine to create a dynamic and engaging environment.

Pupils at Monmouth Prep School can make the most of the outstanding facilities for science, languages, music, culture, sports and dance on offer at our family of schools.

Boys and girls can immerse themselves in a breadth and range of educational opportunities, trips and expeditions, social and co-curricular events and shared community projects.

Led by Headteacher, Mr Neil Shaw, and supported by his deputy, Mrs Kate Kirman, children will be motivated to learn with a sense of fun, enjoyment and excitement, both in and out of the classroom.

Carefully planned and coordinated, the curriculum will focus on developing enthusiastic, inquisitive and resilient boys and girls and provide a strong bedrock for learning across the whole of our integrated prep school.

We are confident that your child will flourish to their full potential, while we will provide additional support for pupils who need it.

Unlike other schools that offer either single-sex or co-education, we believe that we provide the perfect balance of both in our new, Diamond-shaped structure.

Our co-educational foundation will recognise talent and nurture excellence, providing the best possible springboard for your child’s future and allow a confident step up to our senior schools.

Boys and girls will continue to be taught separately in their respective senior schools between the age of 11 and 16 as the distracting pressures of adolescence are absent from their academic lives, while they retain the valuable benefits of joint social and co-curricular activities.

As students progress into Monmouth Schools Sixth Form, co-educational teaching and extensive joint social and co-curricular activities return to ensure a successful transition from school to university life.

We are planning to arrange an Open Day for Monmouth Prep School as soon as circumstances permit, hopefully in March or at the start of the Summer term.

We would be delighted to answer any of your questions and look forward to the time when the lifting of restrictions allow us to show you around our schools.

There is a sense that anything is possible at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools and, as parents, you can feel confident that your child will be joining a legacy of excellence in education that is renowned both nationally and internationally.
