Year 8s on a day out for War Horse and Literature

November 9, 2018

All of the Year 8 students arrived in Birmingham all set for their visit to the Library and a chance to see the award winning performance of War Horse at the Hippodrome.

The morning was spent exploring the vast award-winning building that is the Library of Birmingham.

We looked at a few of the 1 million books, visited the WWI exhibition, admired the views from the gardened terraces and climbed up to the golden drum on the top which houses the reconstructed Shakespeare Memorial Room.

Then it was a walk through the city streets to the Hippodrome to see the National Theatre production of War Horse. The story of a farm boy and his horse requisitioned for use on the Western Front. It was a fantastic visual spectacle and a deeply moving story which was told through amazing puppetry and special effects.
