Talented swimming team start season with victory

The first gala of the year saw an exciting fixture v Bristol Grammar School at home. This was a full school gala, with swimmers taking part from Form I to Sixth Form and a total of 42 races over the event (boys and girls). Each race was closely contested, making for an exciting atmosphere and a great sense of excitement poolside. Monmouth Boys started the event with wins from Sam and Will in the 100IM, followed by convincing win in the 50m Freestyle from Skye. Sam powered on to secure another win in the U13 50m Breaststroke and then as part of the U13 4 x 25 Medley relay team with Joe, Harvey, Will and Alex. The U15 boys 4 x 25m Medley relay team secured a close win, followed by an U15 win for Ben in the Backstroke and Will in the U13 Boys Backstroke. Izumi (Form IV) secured a victory in the U18 Butterfly. In the final race, the 4 x 25 Freestyle relays, Monmouth Boys swam to victory in all three age categories showing the depth of talent in the team and the fantastic determination of every swimmer.

Next month, the U13 swimming team will be Away to Cheltenham Prep and then U15 and U18 Home to Llandaff Cathedral.
