Successful term for the rowing club continues

March 28, 2019

The J14 squad raced in the National Junior Sculling Head at Eton, an event that attracts nearly 600 entries, where they raced for the first time and did exceptionally well, especially as most of them only took up the sport in January. The 1st quad put in an excellent performance and were just beaten by one crew from Bristol to miss out on being selected to represent the “Wales and the West” team at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta next term alongside our J15 IV+ and J16 VIII who have already been selected.

In other news: Jack and Iwan have just completed four days’ of tough trials for the GB team in Nottingham. The process continues until July, but in the meantime, Iwan has been selected to row for Great Britain at Munich International Regatta in May, a tremendous achievement.

We also recently took delivery of a new German Empacher eight for the 1st VIII, considered to be the best boat on the market and a statement of intent about our aspirations for the future at MSRC.

Next we have the MSRC 150th Anniversary dinner in April, followed by a training camp in Italy at the Australian Institute of Sport’s Olympic standard European Training Centre.
