A group of promising Monmouth entrepreneurs, who launched a personalised footwear brand, have scooped four awards in the regional final for Young Enterprise Wales.
My Slides, formed by A level students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools and headed by Adam, won the overall title of best company in the Newport & Monmouthshire regional final last Thursday (28th April).
The company also won best product or service, best presentation and best trade stand.
The students will now represent the Newport & Monmouthshire area at the Welsh final on Monday 11th June.
The students from Monmouth School for Boys and Monmouth School for Girls have been printing eye-catching personalised logos, patterns and pictures on to sliders shoes.
Another company from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, called Firebit, won the best company report award at the regional final.
Headed by Jensen, Firebit has produced fashion apparel linked to app games which the students had written.
Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills.
Running throughout the academic year, the Sixth Form students have been making all the decisions about their businesses and working together as a team in specific roles, including sales, marketing, production, human resources and finance
It is the third year in a row that a team from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools has reached the Welsh final.
It is the first time the schools have entered mixed teams. According to teachers Mr Nick Goodson and Miss Michele Attrill, the mixed teams have brought a new dynamic to the tasks.
The Monmouth students are very grateful to Business Advisor, Dr Delyth Harris, for her support, encouragement and guidance throughout the year.
