Schools turn sea of red for two important charities

January 31, 2020

Students at Monmouth School for Boys and Monmouth School for Girls raised money for two charities.

Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools created a sea of red to raise money for two important charities on Friday 31st January.

Children, staff and even contractors across the five Monmouth schools wore a splash of red and made donations towards the Wear Red for Wales and Velindre campaign.

They also supported a scheme launched by a Monmouth student to fund a heart screening day for around 100 young people in the town next summer.

Year 11 student at Monmouth School for Girls, Darcey, is a Velindre Ambassador and her family has been directly helped by the organisation.

Sixth Form student, Elinor, set up Hartbeat after being inspired by her cousin Frank Arentz, a former Monmouth School for Boys’ pupil, who was diagnosed with a heart condition.

Frank’s condition was discovered during a screening, run by the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
