Rhodri is country’s Best Young Dentist

December 4, 2017

A former Monmouth student has been named as the country’s Best Young Dentist.

Rhodri Thomas, from Lodge Dental in Abergavenny, was recognised for his outstanding talent at the 2017 Dentistry Awards.

Dr Thomas, 27, was crowned the Best Young Dentist at last year’s Private Dentistry Awards and selected by Dentistry Magazine as a Leader of the Future.

Dr Thomas, who believes attending Monmouth School for Boys played an integral role in his success, is rapidly becoming known for his bespoke work and gift for putting anxious patients at ease.

He has previously been awarded the British Society of Prosthodontics Heraeus-Kulzer Prize for his research on tooth wear, Heart your Smile champion for his volunteer work and now acts as a key opinion leader for Ivoclar, DMG and Zhermack.

As a landscape painter, his eye for colour and composition transfers from the canvas into his dental work, recreating the natural landscapes of the mouth.

Dr Thomas graduated from Cardiff University in 2014 and has developed a particular interest in aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

The Old Monmothian lectures and teaches internationally on the subject of aesthetics, presenting at conferences across the globe and publishing articles in leading dental magazines.

He has been invited to talk to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists in Chicago, USA.
