March 27, 2021

Reuben, a Year 7 pupil, shone on the drums and was one of the two runners-up

Fifteen superb acts lit up the first-ever virtual edition of Monmouth’s Got Talent on Friday (26th March).

Year 7 pupils at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, Reuben and Issy, each received £25 as the runners-up prizes.

Reuben shone with the drums and Issy dazzled in equal measures with her version of Naughty from the musical, Matilda.

Congratulations to Monmouth Comprehensive School vocalist Will, for winning first prize and £50 with his a cappella combination of Billy Joel’s The Longest Time.

Thanks to Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent, for his adjudication.

The talent show takes place each year involving students at Monmouth School for Boys, Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth Comprehensive School.

This year it was showcased on YouTube and raised funds for The Trussell Trust, supporting its network of food banks across the UK.

Daniela, a Year 10 pupil at Monmouth School for Girls, designed the eye-catching event poster.

The hard work, commitment and skill from the senior prefect teams at the town’s three secondary school, who organised the event, must be applauded.
