Pupils experience different styles of worship

Pupils from Monmouth School for Boys visited three places of worship in Cardiff to experience different styles of worship and religious expression.

The Form I students were fortunate to see an Arti ceremony on their visit to the Shree Swaminarayan Hindu Temple on Tuesday 15th May.

The boys then went to the Sikh Gurdwara where they sat and ate lunch together on the floor in the langar (kitchen) in traditional Sikh style.

“There was a service going on and we were welcomed into the prayer hall where we saw the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book) being read,” said Mrs Rhiannon Wynne Lord, Head of Religious Studies at Monmouth School for Boys.

The group then visited Cardiff Buddhist Centre where they were taken into the shrine room and led through a guided mediation focusing on awareness of breathing.
