Prestigious rugby scholarship awarded to 1st XV skipper

May 21, 2020

Huge congratulations to George, Monmouth School for Boys 1st XV captain, as we have recently heard that he has been offered a sports scholarship on the high performance rugby programme at Swansea University. This is an enormous achievement for George and reflects the large amount of work that he has put into his game whilst at the school. George joined the school as a boarder to study in the 6th form and he quickly made a very good impression on the rugby field, with his elusive running and intelligent distribution skills. Rugby Coach Mr Morris said of George’s achievement, ‘in his 6.2 year George became the 1st XV captain and he set a tremendous example, both on and off the pitch, during his tenure. The award from Swansea University could not have gone to a more deserving player. George developed his game throughout his time at Monmouth through sheer hard work and determination, often being the first to training and the last to leave. We wish him every success and shall watch his progress with great interest, I’m sure he will continue to be a fine ambassador for Monmouth School for Boys and Monmouth rugby.’
Well done George and good luck with all your future rugby endeavours.
