‘Peg it up’ and Pottery on the weekend

September 28, 2016

art-in-penalltFor the third year running over 50 Monmouth School pupils, from all year groups, celebrated their fantastic artwork at the ‘Peg it up’ exhibition in Penallt. This was a shared exhibition with HMSG and Monmouth Comprehensive School. Creations ranging from beautifully detailed portraits to vibrantly, expressive, juxtaposed collages kicked off the Art in Penallt weekend festival where many boys were thrilled to sell their work.

On Sunday the ‘Have a go’ potter’s wheel sessions were a big hit. There was a stream of young, and not so young, budding potters, enjoying their first experience of throwing, under the superb guidance of 6th Formers, Wilfrid and Robert. All of the work, which will raise money for Monmouth’s Bridges Community Centre, will be fired and glazed and hopefully returned to their creators; watch this space!
