Old Monmothian Lewis Oliva took gold at the British Cycling National Track Championships, winning the men’s sprint title in a dominant display.

The 23-year-old track ace told Wales Online that competing in the event has been close to his heart for years, and emerging victorious last month was “fantastic”.

Lewis, who was talent spotted at a regional sprint event, was accepted onto the Olympic Development Program whilst still at Monmouth School.

Looking ahead to Rio and the 2016 Olympics, the athlete says he will be doing everything he can to ensure he is in the team.
