Musicians from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools are uniting for a special strings concert at the town’s Bridges Centre on Wednesday 2nd May, starting at 6.30pm.

Children from Monmouth School for Boys, Monmouth School for Girls, Monmouth School Girls’ Prep and Monmouth School Boys’ Prep are looking forward to performing in the annual Haberdashers’ Strings Concert.

It is the final performance of the year for Senior Strings who, under the baton of Mrs Ruth Friend, will be playing music by Handel, Holst and Leroy Anderson.

St Catherine’s Strings, a string orchestra for senior girls of all abilities, will be conducted by Monmouth School for Girls’ Director of Music, Mrs Amy Clouter.

The Bach Orchestra, the boys’ training orchestra for junior string players, will open the programme.

It promises to be an enjoyable, informal event which will allow children and parents to hear the progression made by musicians from across the schools.

Entrance to the concert, which is expected to last for around 90 minutes, is free and tickets are not required.
