National Selection and Sponsorship for Hugo!

Following on from last term’s news that Harry from Form II had been selected to attend the cricketing centre of excellence in Loughborough there is yet more good news on the cricketing front for Monmouth School.

Hugo, pictured with his ceremonial cap, has been selected to attend the training sessions for the Wales Under 12 team this winter, with a view to team selection in the Summer. Hugo has played for the Gwent County team for the last three years and last year represented Wales at Under 11 level, for which he was presented his cap.

Director of Cricket, and former Glamorgan player, Mr Jones was delighted with Hugo’s success, ‘It’s been a few years since we’ve had a representative at National level, and the other students who have represented Wales all began their careers slightly later on than Hugo, so it’s very impressive to have made it into the side at such a young age and is testament to his dedication and hard work.’

Well done Hugo, we look forward to hearing about large numbers of runs being scored in the Summer!

And there’s more…

Hugo SponsorshipAs news of Hugo’s selection for the Wales under 12 cricket team filtered through to us, we have also learnt that Hugo has been awarded sponsorship by highly respected bat maker Millichamp and Hall. for the 2016 season.

Based at the Somerset County ground Millichamp and Hall provide bespoke cricket bats to all levels of players including England’s Number 3 Nick Compton (who has just become their ambassador).

Hugo is among several players in the country, at junior level, who will receive sponsorship and it is definitely a great achievement. Hopefully a new bat will help him score even more runs for Wales and Monmouth School when the season begins!
