Monk brings Buddhism to life during Monmouth visit

October 12, 2018

Pupils at Monmouth School for Boys received a special visit from a Buddhist monk this week.

Lama Samten, who lives in New Zealand but originates from Tibet, is also a teacher and spoke to GCSE Religious Studies students.

He highlighted the importance of wisdom and compassion, and the boys had an opportunity to ask about his views on ethical issues.

“Our GCSE classes study the beliefs, teachings and practices of Buddhists so this helped to bring the subject to life,” said Head of Religious Studies at Monmouth School for Boys, Mrs Rhiannon Wynne Lord.
