A long-serving member of staff who loved the outdoors and supported a host of headmasters at Monmouth has died peacefully after a short illness, aged 81.

Mr Peter Nickells was a hard-working and dedicated member of staff at Monmouth School for Boys from 1966 to 1998.

An active member of the Common Room, Mr Nickells ensured the smooth running of the school as Assistant Bursar in supporting a number of headmasters during his career at Monmouth.

He was also involved in a host of extra-curricular activities such as running the RAF section, Ten Tors and the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

A Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for Mr Nickells’ life is taking place at Monmouth Baptist Church on Friday 28th September, starting at noon.

Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools send heartfelt condolences to Mr Nickells’ family and friends for their loss.
