Joint Swimming team triumph in tough test

SwimmingOn Thursday 19 January, the Monmouth School and HMSG swimming team competed against Cheltenham College at home (HMSG pool).  This senior gala was a tough test for our swimmers, and there were many extremely close and hard-fought races. The combined team demonstrated their commitment and enthusiasm for the sport, with every swimmer giving their best.

Monmouth School swimmers gave some outstanding individual perfomances, with first place positions awarded to Robbie in the 50m Breaststroke and Ben in 50m Backstroke. Team captains Oscar and Charlie finished first in 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle respectively. The boys excelled in the relay races with first place awarded to the U18 Medley relay team (Harold, Oscar, Charlie and Harrison), U18 Freestyle relay team (Oscar, Charlie, Harrison and Izumi) and the U16 Medley relay team (Robbie, Roderick, Ben and Alan).

The final score was: Monmouth School and HMSG 125, Cheltenham College 113.

The next gala is on Thursday 2 February v Clifton College. Training as usual for all swimmers on Tuesday.
