Keen programmers demonstrated a host of imaginative projects at the third annual Computer Science Fair in Monmouth.

Alec, 10, built a working replica of a pub classic arcade machine, containing the much-loved games, Frogger and Asteroids.

William caused a stir with his Microbit Smart Shaker which gave a twist to the rock-paper-scissors hand game.

And A level Computer Science student, James S, built a simulator programme which generates an alternative timeline for the earth.

The trio were among more than a dozen budding exhibitors at the popular fair organised and hosted by Monmouth School for Boys.

Headmaster, Dr Andrew Daniel, a keen C# programmer, kept visitors entertained with his war-themed action computer game.

Finn brought his turret project to the fair, while James C,  Dylan, and Joe also exhibited their impressive inventions.

Ms Lyndsay Hope, Head of Computing at Monmouth School for Boys, said “The fair was another memorable occasion and combined all the computer science side of things with art, STEM subjects and humanities.

“The children were able to ask questions and get inspiration from other demonstrators which will, hopefully, spark them further on their own road to invention.”
