Governor’s date with royalty

May 25, 2020

A popular governor at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools has enjoyed a special date with royalty.

Mrs Jo Booth (pictured top right in the Zoom call) is a big supporter of the schools and has spoken with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Mrs Booth is a Crisis Volunteer with Shout UK, the country’s first 24/7 text service, free on all major mobile networks, for anyone in crisis.

To mark Shout UK’s first anniversary, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined a zoom call with five volunteers, including Mrs Booth.

The royals chatted to Mrs Booth and other volunteers about their experiences of providing support to thousands of people who have texted the organisation over the past 12 months

Shout is part of Mental Health innovations (MHI), which was founded in November 2017.

It is funded with money from the Royal Foundation, the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Anyone needing to use the service, should use their mobile phone to Text SHOUT to 85258 and will be connected with a trained Crisis Volunteer.
