Geographers explore vibrancy of Monmouth’s high street

December 12, 2019

Twelve Sixth Form Foundation Year students at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools have explored the state of the town’s high street.

They collected a host of data, including pedestrian and traffic counts, noise levels, environmental quality surveys, land use surveys, shopper questionnaires and independent shop interviews.

A SHOP Local campaign for Monmouth was launched in 2018 with the aim of encouraging people to visit the town to buy local goods, instead of making purchases online.

The students will now be putting together a 2,000-word project for their iGCSE Geography course, titled: An Investigation of Monmouth’s retail sector – how healthy is Monmouth’s high street?
