August 23, 2019

A Monmouth student has made his debut for the Wales Minor Counties men’s cricket team.

Sixteen-year-old Harry, who collected his GCSE results this week, played in Wales’ three-day Unicorns Championship Western Division fixture against Dorset at North Perrott.

Harry took a couple of catches as this week’s match finished in a draw.

The opening batsman is a pupil at Monmouth School for Boys and part of the Glamorgan Academy.

Harry also plays for Wales Under-17s and top scored with 72 from 91 balls in Monmouth Cricket Club’s narrow one-wicket home defeat to Sudbrook last weekend in Division One of the South East Wales League.

Meanwhile, Monmouth School for Boys is staging Glamorgan Seconds’ friendly against old rivals Worcestershire Seconds, starting next Tuesday 27th August at 11am.

The match will run until Thursday 29th August and it follows on from the school’s picturesque Sports Ground hosting Glamorgan Seconds’ one-day match against Essex in June.
