Exhilarating whitewater kayaking in French Alps

July 16, 2019

Eight intrepid kayakers challenged themselves in the Hautes Alpes region of south east France.

Based near Briancon, the Monmouth School for Boys’ Canoe Club members learned how to deal with steep, narrow sections and open, fast rapids during the exhilarating whitewater kayaking expedition.

The boys enjoyed rivers such as the Ubaye, Guil, Guisane, Gyronde, Fournel, Briancon and Chateau Queyras Gorges and Durance.

The boys practised their river skills, rescues and leadership under the watchful eyes of whitewater guru Sean Taylor and Dr James Harrison.
