Brass Ensemble

Thank you and well done to all members for an excellent year of music making last year – I’m looking forward to more great performances this year.

Brass Ensemble will continue to rehearse on Friday mornings at 8.30. Please try to arrive in good time so that we can be ready to start playing at 8.30, and let me know if you can’t make a rehearsal.

Our first commitment this term will be the Armistice Day Service at the School War Memorial on Monday 11th November. After that we will be performing at the FOMS Christmas Fair on Saturday 30th November, before rounding off the term with the usual Carol Services on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th December.

We will begin the term looking at new repertoire that we can use later in the year, then concentrating on the Armistice Service music and embarking on Christmas music later in the term.

Mr. Griffiths

Percussion Ensemble

After a successful performance last term, the percussion ensemble continues to go from strength to strength. This term we have already started work on new repertoire and have been asked to perform at future concerts.

Please ensure you arrive early to help set up and if you cannot attend please let me know.

Mojo (Monmouth School Jazz Orchestra)

The jazz orchestra has a busy term ahead with several performances planned including a trip to London to perform as part of the Lord Mayor’s Show in Paternoster Square.

Please ensure you continue to attend promptly each week, we can only produce good performances with full attendance in rehearsals.

Mr Hathaway

Symphonic Winds & Junior Winds

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in our “Symphonic Serenade” concert last term, and to all the parents for supporting them. The concert was a wonderful success and all the hard work and commitment to rehearsals was very much appreciated. The new repertoire this term will contain some challenging pieces and practice copies will be available on request. This term our wind ensembles will be preparing for the Charity Concert on November 28th, where we will hopefully have a nice surprise finale! There will be an extended rehearsal on Monday 26th for Symphonic Winds, where full attendance is expected in order to prepare fully for this concert.

We welcome all the new Form I members this term to Junior Winds and hope that you will be fully committed to the band and enjoy the new pieces we have for you to play. Please remember to arrive promptly for rehearsal AT 1.50pm; we will have plenty of hard work ahead of us this term in readiness for their first performance. Practice parts will be available on request. Should you be unable to make a rehearsal please give advanced notification either in person or via email. Both Symphonic Winds and Junior Winds are protected time activities; please do not arrange to do something else during these times.

Woodwind Ensemble

This is an invitation only group with the focus on encouraging woodwind players to increase their skills in a smaller, more focused environment. We welcome our new members this term and rehearsals will now be on a Friday lunchtime at 2pm in the music school.

Miss Fowler
