Celebrating Sikhism and Punjabi culture

May 22, 2018

Children at Monmouth School for Boys have enjoyed performing traditional Indian dance moves originating in the Majha area of the Punjab region.

The Form I pupils have been studying Sikhism in Religious Studies lessons and learning about the festival of Vaisaki.

Last week, Gurbax Kaur introduced the boys to Punjabi culture and some of the Bhangra dance moves which symbolise actions carried out at harvest, such as sowing, picking and gathering crops.
