Admissions

Admissions

With Covid-19 restrictions likely to remain in place until the spring, as a family of schools, we have taken some key decisions to ensure that the entrance process is as smooth and stress-free as possible. We do not want any pupil to be adversely affected by their experiences during lockdown or if there should be any further absence from schools over the coming months.

We are streamlining our whole entrance process, with the emphasis placed firmly on looking for potential not just test-performance.  Details of these new steps for academic assessments, scholarships and awards have been set out below by our main years of entry.

Our Admissions Registrars are on hand to guide you through every step of this new process and will be able to arrange individual visits, personalised online assessments and interviews either face-to-face or remotely.

Thank you for your interest in Monmouth School for Boys. Here in Admissions, our aim is to make the transition to a new school as smooth as possible.  We understand how important choosing the right school for your child is and we are here to assist you every step of the way.

In light of the recent Covid-19 related government guidelines, please rest assured that we are still continuing with our admissions journeys remotely. We would be delighted to arrange virtual meetings with our Heads of schools and Admissions Registrars at your request. Please feel free to get touch with our Admissions Registrars if you have any questions or concerns.

We have multiple entry points for children applying to join us and we welcome applications throughout the year. Early application is encouraged to avoid disappointment at our key entry points, however, we tailor the admissions process where possible to accommodate you as a family.

We are able to conduct meetings via Skype or Zoom and entrance assessments can be sat remotely, if required, by prior arrangement. We are here at the end of an email or telephone to help and guide you through your admissions journey.

We look forward to hearing from you and to telling you more about what our schools can offer you and your son.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to have visitors at the schools. We still believe it important to offer opportunities for you to explore all aspects of life at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools and have moved much of our open events online. Please do take a look at our virtual tour and our upcoming open events.

A registration form, available either from the Admissions Registrar or by clicking here, is completed by the parents before the end of February in the year of admission and returned to the school, together with a registration fee to cover administrative costs

Open Days and Visits

The Admissions Team arrange Open Days each year for prospective pupils and their parents to visit the school. These are deliberately chosen to be during term time so that you can see the school in action and be guided round by current pupils who will give you a pupil’s viewpoint. Individual visits can be arranged at other times if the dates are not convenient for you.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have organised virtual open events. These virtual events are a wonderful opportunity for you to discover what it is like to be a pupil with us and get a glimpse into the many opportunities across our family of schools.
