Ann Nixon has made many lifelong friends after running the school shop for 21 years

A familiar face at Monmouth School for Boys has locked up the school shop for a final time.

Mrs Ann Nixon ran the school shop for 21 years.

Mrs Nixon has fitted uniforms and kits for hundreds of families over the past two decades and made lifelong friends.

Mrs Nixon – and her husband – will be moving to north Wales to be closer to their daughter and one-year-old grandchild.

“I would have been working at the school for 22 years in May, and made some wonderful friends,” said Mrs Nixon, a keen runner whose final day at school was Friday 18th February.

“I have worked at Monmouth under four heads and three bursars and I enjoy running two miles into work each day from my home on the outskirts of town.”

Mrs Nixon is proud of the new-look school shop in the William Jones Building and says it has a bright future and is being left in very capable hands.

She added: “I will miss the staff, children and parents at Monmouth but we are relocating to Snowdonia, which is a beautiful place and a great area for running and trekking.”
