January 7, 2022

A former student at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools has completed his first professional sailing assignment.
Angus Whitehead, who left Monmouth School for Boys after his A levels in the summer, took a £1.8 million sailing yacht from Barcelona to Lanzarote.
The Old Monmothian qualified as a Professional Offshore Yacht Master on 20th December after four months of intensive training off the Isle of Wight.
Angus is a keen rower and his sailing odyssey started when he raced his dinghy and coached youngsters at Llandegfedd Reservoir near Pontypool.
After receiving a telephone call from a yacht owner on 23rd December, Angus sailed the coast of Spain to Gibraltar along the African coast and delivered it in Lanzarote on 3rd January.
Angus returned home to Monmouth last night (Thursday 6th January) and has grown in confidence and self-belief as he awaits his next sailing adventure.
