An athlete at Monmouth School for Boys achieved four personal bests and a silver medal for Wales at a major two-day indoor competition in Sheffield.
Aharon finished a creditable 11th place overall in the Under-17 Men’s Heptathlon at England Athletics‘ Combined Events Indoor Championships.
The competition incorporated the Welsh Championships and Aharon recorded an impressive haul of 4,010 points from his seven heptathlon events – 60m, shot, long jump, high jump, 60m hurdles, polevault and 1000m.
Aharon took part in four disciplines on the opening day with the high jump proving his most successful.
Aharon immediately cleared the bar at 1:50m on his first attempt and then every increase that followed until he reached 1:62m.
Having added a massive 12cm to his personal best, Aharon almost cleared at 1:65m but his heel clipped the bar.
Aharon’s final clearance of 1:62m – a new personal best – gave him a huge confidence boost.
Earlier in the day, he achieved a new personal best performance in the long jump.
Aharon started the second day with a third personal best of 8.96s in the 60m hurdles and a polevault clearance of 3:63m.
As the strongest polevaulter in the field, Aharon was first overall in that event.
The 1000m was Aharon’s final discipline of the weekend and he finished on a positive note, recording another personal best in a time of 3:08:27.
