Accolades for Diana at recent music festivals

May 9, 2014

At the South Glamorgan Festival for Young Musicians, Diana (Year 11) was awarded 1st prize in the Senior Harp competition.

The adjudicator (pictured presenting the SGFYM Trophy to Diana) praised her “sensitive, intelligent and well-controlled playing.”   She has now been invited to represent the Harp category at the Gala Concert later this month, which brings together performances from across the Festival.

This accolade follows Diana’s successes at the previous month’s Bristol Eisteddfod, where she gained the Marion Bishop Trophy in the Advanced Harp Class in addition to being placed 1st in the Traditional British Melody category.   Diana was also one of the prize-winners invited to play in the Eisteddfod’s Gala Concert.   The atmospheric acoustics at St Georges Hall, Bristol (pictured) provided an ideal setting for her performance of Dussek’s Harp Sonata.

Diana is currently working towards eleven GCSEs and A Level music and is a wonderful ambassador for the school, in every sense.
